"You reap what you sow." We want that statement to be true, if it means that people get what they deserve. But that isn't what Paul says in Galatians 6, and it isn't how life works. People profit from bad choices every day, and good people suffer for choices they never made. Joseph knew both sides of that - his actions, both good and bad had real consequences in his life and the lives of those around him. His brothers sold him into slavery and prospered; he kept faith in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Paul insists the harvest is real: whoever sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life. This series follows Joseph from the pit to Pharaoh's palace to ask what he actually reaped after twenty years, and what we are growing in our own lives right now.

Years after his brothers threw him into a pit and sold him into slavery, Joseph stood in front of them with the power to take revenge or to forgive. And he chose to forgive. Joseph had become a man in whom the fruit of the Spirit has fully ripened. He became a person able to interrupt the cycle his family planted generations before. Paul said we will reap at the proper time if we do not give up. Joseph's proper time took twenty plus years and led him to a harvest of grace.
