The story of Jonah is more than about a guy who was swallowed up by a whale. Jonah is a great example of how even faithful people can stray from the path God has set before us, and how we would be lost without God’s mercy and grace. Jonah’s story shows us God’s relentless pursuit of us out of the abundance of his love. The story of Jonah reminds us that no one is too messed up that they are "unlovable", and that there's no place we can go that takes us beyond the reach of God's love. God's grace and love are relentless, chasing after us even as we try to run away. From renegade cities to rebellious prophets, nobody is beyond God’s reach.
